Correspondence, speeches, bills, deeds, pamphlets, campaign literature, and clippings, mainly 1903-1924, relating largely to the political (Republican) and personal career of Preus, who served as a clerk-assistant to U.S. Senator Knute Nelson and to Minnesota Governor Adolph O. Eberhart, as Minnesota commissioner of insurance (1911-1915), as state auditor (1915-1921), and as governor (1921-1925). He was an unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate (1923) and became vice-president (1926-?) of the W.A. Alexander Insurance Company, Chicago.
